Gifts of the Spirit — Message 1: Your Gift Benefits All — On the day you were born again, God gave you a gift — maybe more than one — and it wasn't meant to sit in the box. Paul's list in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 breaks into three families: gifts of revelation (wisdom, knowledge, discerning spirits), gifts of power (faith, healing, miracles), and gifts of inspiration (prophecy, tongues, interpretation). Different gifts, same Spirit, one purpose: "for the common good" — so open it and share it.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 2: The Gift of Wisdom, The Gift of Knowledge — God has an ocean of wisdom and we have teacup brains, so He gives it one timely word at a time: a word of wisdom to handle a situation as the Spirit directs, a word of knowledge to bring understanding rooted in the gospel. Solomon asked for both and got riches, wealth, and honor thrown in (2 Chronicles 1:11-12). "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously" (James 1:5) — so ask, and don't doubt.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 3: The Gift of Faith — Every believer came to Christ by faith, but the gift of faith is something more: an extraordinary confidence in the promises of God that lets a person take a heroic stand on what He is going to do (1 Corinthians 12:9; Hebrews 11). Pastor Rod defines the gift, then Aries Graves shows it — a 22-year-old teacher who was raised in fear and abuse, met Jesus as a child before she knew His name, and learned that faith is believing before you see. Nine marks of a faith-filled life close the message.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 4: The Gift of Discernment — One Spirit gives revelation about all the other spirits — of people, of movements, of the age itself (the Zeitgeist). The gift of distinguishing between spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10, Greek diakrisis) is the ability to judge well: to recognize whether something is truly from God, to warn the church in times of danger, and to keep us from costly mistakes — the gift Adam and Eve didn't have. It's for the mature, it's trained by practice (Hebrews 5:14), and in an age of deceivers and AI fakes, we need it in triplicate.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 5: Gifts of Healings and the Working of Miracles — Every child of God has a superpower, and it isn't the comic-book kind: it's the Holy Spirit expressing God's power through you. The gift of miracles — Moses at the sea, Elijah's fire, Peter and Tabitha — initiates, restores, and strengthens faith; the gift of healing is God doing what medicine can't (1 Corinthians 12:9-11). Rod shares his own healing from chronic hepatitis and the miracles seen in this congregation and in Nigeria. The age of miracles hasn't ended, because He isn't here yet. Believe and pray.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 6: The Gift of Prophecy — Paul says to eagerly desire the gifts, "especially prophecy" (1 Corinthians 14:1): a spontaneous, right-now word from God for a person, a church, or an age, given to strengthen, encourage, and comfort. It isn't preaching, teaching, or counsel, it's never on par with Scripture, and it must always be judged — but it hasn't ceased, and your sons and daughters will prophesy (Acts 2:17). Rod shares the word that sent him to India, and closes by praying for those who want the gift.

Gifts of the Spirit — Message 7: Speaking and Praying in Tongues, and the Interpretation of Tongues — At Pentecost the Spirit came like wind and fire, and Galilean fishermen spoke the wonders of God in languages they had never learned, so that people from every nation under heaven heard in their own tongue (Acts 2:1-13). Tongues (Greek glōssolalia) is for speaking; interpretation is for hearing — and both are still gifts for today, from foreign languages to a heavenly prayer language.
